The City of Spirit Lake, IA draws all of their water from Spirit Lake (5,684 acres located just north of the municipality). A substantial spike in population from 1995–2005 created the need to substantially upgrade their water filtration/treatment capacity. In 2008, Joseph completed this Water Treatment Facility enhancement. The project scope included building a new clarifier and plate settler, renovated another clarifier, installed new higher capacity water pumps, and a new maintenance and shop facility.
